This quote above is from a Marine Veteran, who completed 2 tours in Iraq and was being treated for PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). He opted to try MDMA-assisted psychotherapy as nothing else he tried (talk therapy, SSRIs, self-help books) seemed to work to alleviate his symptoms.
This quote came after his second (out of three) MDMA-assisted psychotherapy sessions (two therapists are typically in the room).
According to MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies), 9 million adults suffer from PTSD each year!
MDMA is currently in the second phase of the phase 3 clinical trials to test efficacy and safety for treatment of the disorders: PTSD, Depression, Dissociation, Substance Use disorders, and childhood trauma.
I’m at a psychotherapy conference this weekend and I always feel like I’m at a chasm between knowing and taking action. I know what I want to do but where do I begin?!
What this conference has proven to me is that psychedelics are going to be the new frontier in mental health counseling.
I hope to synthesize all that I’ve learned and write a blog about this in the next 7-14 days.
Have a great weekend!
