The Greater Richmond Therapist Social Club

The Greater Richmond Therapist Social Club

6 months of connection and fun!

There are a great number of therapists in our area and yet so many of us feel isolated, alone, disconnected, and lacking in connecting with people who “get” the challenges of what it means to be a mental health practitioner.

When I read this feedback I felt both sad and relieved. I was sad that so many of us are craving this opportunity to connect and relieved that I could put my community building skills to work to address this need! In your feedback you told me you want therapists in your network to connect with beyond surface level networking.

You are an easy going person who wants to meet up (it doesn’t matter the type of event) and create new, authentic connections in a laid back environment without all the pressure.

I got you!!

A Therapist Community with Your Feedback in Mind

Are you ready to hear about the feedback I received? I hope so!

Here’s what your feedback said:

You are ready to start sooner rather than later. It’s a February start date for the win!

You did not have a preference for frequency of meetings so I chose for us! We will meet one time per month for 2-2.5 hours.

A commitment of 6 months versus 1 year is preferable. I hear you!

Thursday evenings (after 6pm) and Friday evenings (after 5pm) were tied for the best times. I will incorporate both!

You are looking for community, connection, support, and fun (fun was mentioned several times :)) and we got that!

You are interested in trying new foods and drinks, bonfires, seasonal activities, cultural events, indoor chats with hot beverages, creative arts exercises for self-care and reflection.

I can’t wait for you to see what’s coming!

A Greater Richmond Therapist Social Club Designed for You

I’m sure you can guess what this clinician social club is going to look like. Our social club will be starting in February for a total of 6 months and will be meeting once a month on Thursday evenings and Friday evenings and the dates will vary since the majority of you do not want consistency in our meeting dates/times. The activities will be the ones you had the most interest in, and will be spending half of our time in Richmond City and the other half in the surrounding counties since we have a mixed group.

Who is the community for?

This community is for people who:

  • Are seeking community, collaboration, relaxation, fun and support in a growing network.
  • Appreciate being able to actively participate without being the one to plan everything.
  • Are committed to showing up each month so that you can maximize getting to know your colleagues over an extended period of time.
  • Are committed to creating a warm, inclusive environment for their colleagues
  • Will keep information shared in our community private. You know the saying, “What happens in group, stays in group!”
How much does this cost?

The feedback you gave us was that you are VERY interested in community and support and are not too worried about the fees. Since this is our first go-round, we are going to offer the membership at $25/mth, although payment will be due in full (for logistical reasons).

Included in this low rate:

  • 6 months of organized events (1x/mth).
  • The cost of food, drinks, and activities. No extra spending is necessary during our trips
  • A membership webpage/document that includes the headshots, website, contact info., expertise, and interests of our members.
  • If you are ready, click below to sign up! There are only 15 spots available for this social club.
Why do we need a membership fee?

There will be costs associated with these activities. And we want to acknowledge the time,  energy, and labor (of myself) and others to create a sustainable social club.

Can we share responsibility for organizing so this community is free?

In my experience, not having a group leader can result in the group fizzing out and/or a more experienced leader ending up with more responsibility than they really wanted. Shared responsibility can also slow down the planning process resulting in a lack of momentum. We hope those who decide to join will value the thoughtfulness and planning of this community.

What if one can’t make it to a particular event?

If you can’t make one particular event, we’ll miss you! Be sure to mark your calendar for the next one. Refunds are not provided for months when you are unable to attend.

Can I just pay to come to some of the events?

No. This social club is designed for people who want to build relationships over an extended period of time.

This Social Club is about Us but Not ALL about Us

This social club is for helpers and healers who understand self-care is not just an overused marketing term but a path to greater awareness and acceptance. The work we do is hard and if we are to continue to do this important work, we need to take care of ourselves so that everyone in our lives will benefit.

This network of 15 local providers that you will get to know over the course of 6 months will not just benefit you but your clients as well. Imagine your ability to confidently give out referrals to clients who aren’t a good fit for your office. Imagine our collective ability to help our community when we are able to work together across Richmond city and surrounding counties.
